Actually my partner studied in the University of Tasmania when his school days, he missed Australia so much and wanted to talk
with this guest, so we invited her to the dinner in "Ajikoji" gourmet area, nearby JR Kii-Tanabe station.
After we enjoyed the dinner in Izakaya pub, the lion dance or "Shishimai" began with musical accompaniment on the street,
including Japanese flute and the drum.
There are many local festivals or "matsuri" in Autumn season, the main purpose is to celebrate Shinto gods, and to pray for
prosperity and good harvests.
In Tanabe-city, "Minato Matsuri", the annual festival of "Aritoshi Jinja Shrine" takes place on Oct.16th and 17th, and this
festival includes the unique parading groups of each area's portable shrine or "mikoshi" and lion dance for a few days before the annual festival, it is very exciting!
In this period, you can see the lion dance and the parade along the street, if you are very lucky, you might be able to meet them
when you are enjoying your dinner in Izakaya restaurant! 😉

5日間かけて熊野古道中辺路を踏破されるご予定ですが、ヒマラヤやチベットでもトレッキングをされたことがあるということで、きっととても健脚でいらっしゃるのですね！

昨夜は、オーストラリアにゆかりのあるメンバーとで、ゲストさんを、白浜のお隣、紀伊田辺駅近くのグルメエリア・味光路での夕食にお誘いしました♪
秋は、お祭りのシーズンでもあります。
各地で、秋風に乗ってお囃子の調べが聞こえてくるようになりました。
紀伊田辺駅から徒歩約5分の蟻通神社では、毎年10月16日・17日に、例大祭の「湊まつり」が行われており、それまでの期間、各地区の神輿・獅子舞が勇壮に地域を練り歩きます。
この日も、ちょうど食事を終えて外に出たらお囃子が聞こえてきて、獅子舞と神輿が味光路の各お店を回っているところでした。
笛の彼は、オーナーの小学校時代の同級生♪ほかに知った顔もちらほらあって、しばらくゲストさんと秋祭りの雰囲気を楽しみました(*^^*)
獅子舞の写真は、末広地区で撮影させていただいたもの。この時期は、紀伊田辺駅近くのお店でお食事されていたら、突然獅子舞が入ってくるかもしれませんよ♪
また、17日の宮入りでは、鳥居前で宮入りさせようとする氏子と、それに抵抗する獅子舞の激しい攻防が見ものです！
